My sister, Andrea, flew home 3 days ago after a week long visit and I miss her already. We got along so well and there was good energy throughout the entire week.
She arrived late Thursday night so we just chilled in the living room until it was time to go to bed. My husband and I had an appointment the next morning so that gave Andrea time to rest and have the house to herself with our 2 cats.
It was a sunny and fairly warm day, so we decided to show her one of our favorite towns that is close to our home – Seal Beach. We had a wonderful late lunch at our favorite restaurant, Walt’s Wharf, followed by a walk on the pier and shopping at the cute little shops on Main Street. Friday night we got together with my friends who were supporting a mutual friend at a speaker event.
Saturday was drizzly and cold so we decided to go to my spiritual meeting. I was delighted to have my sister join me and witness this important part of my life. There is so much love and support at these meetings and we both felt blessed to be there. After the meeting we went out for lunch at Fred’s Mexican Cafe in downtown Huntington Beach and had lots of laughs. We enjoyed looking at the pier from the enclosed patio.
Sunday night was fun because we joined our friend, Mike, at a karaoke restaurant and bar called Pelican Isle in Sunset Beach. I actually got up to the microphone with Mike to sing “I Got You Babe.” I kept messing up and singing the man’s part of the song and blamed it on the 3 beers I had! Needless to say, we had a lot of laughs.
Monday was a warm, sunny day so my husband and I took Andrea to Crystal Cove for lunch at the Beachcomber. We ended up at the cottage rental desk and asked if there were any cottages available. Cottage #33 was available that overlooks the ocean with huge glass windows giving us a magnificent view of the coastline!
The cottage was toasty warm when we got settled in around 7 pm. We were so exhausted that we crashed soon afterward! Unfortunately, none of us bothered to check if there was a heater in the room and we froze our butts off all night! I discovered the heater in the morning so we turned it on and did yoga.
I felt grateful that my sister flew out to rainy California to visit and we got to spend some quality time together. I hope we can repeat this next year!
I wrote about my sister Andrea in my book, Messages from the Afterlife – Memoirs of a Hospice Nurse. We changed her name to Angela because she is an Angel! 😊
