What a wonderful weekend I had at a spiritual retreat with 23 amazing women that was held at the Mission San Luis in Oceanside, CA! At first, I didn’t feel excited about going because I have been so busy this month – a trip to Sedona with my husband to celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary; a visit with my nephew and his girlfriend from Chicago; and my upcoming retreat in Italy where I will be doing Reiki healing work and Kundalini yoga. I am feeling a bit overwhelmed with everything that’s on my plate.
I’m so glad I went on this spiritual retreat because it filled my soul with love and support. We arrived Friday afternoon and got settled in our rooms and greeted one another. We had a wonderful dinner followed by our first group meeting where we focused on the topic of self-care. I received so much wisdom from listening to others share. I had my own room and was so grateful that I made the decision to spend the extra money to have it all to myself.
The next morning, I started my day with Sadhana which is a spiritual practice utilizing Kundalini yoga and meditation. During my meditation, I had a message to teach Kundalini yoga for the women at the retreat since we had the afternoon free.
Breakfast was served with a marvelous spread of traditional breakfast foods. There was great conversation as we shared stories of our lives, challenges and blessings. We had a group meeting after breakfast; followed by an art project that was a lot of fun. I asked permission from the leaders if I could teach Kundalini yoga to our group in the afternoon and they were enthusiastic about my proposal!
After lunch, three of us went into town to get a massage. We arrived back in time for me to change into yoga clothes and get ready to teach my class. I was delighted to see 18-20 women attend my class. All of them, except one, were new to Kundalini yoga and I received a lot of positive feedback about how much they enjoyed the class! One of the women, who had been dealing with severe back pain and sciatica, told me how good her back felt after the class.
I was grateful that I stepped out of my comfort zone to teach this healing yoga. I love teaching Kundalini yoga and felt honored to gift this to our group. It was a great weekend filled with love, fellowship, peace and serenity!
