Just do it! Write that book and step into your destiny! Step past your fears about not being good enough, being judged by others and concerns about how this will change your life.
When I was writing my book, Messages from the Afterlife: Memoirs of a Hospice Nurse, I was filled with insecurity, self-doubt and fear. I would hear this voice of fear that said “Who would want to read this stuff?” I am grateful that I was able to move beyond that negative self-talk and get my book published.
I had been journaling my experiences of some of my favorite hospice patients so the material was already there. I put my journals into a red bag because red is the color for manifestation. Of course, my book needed to go through several rounds of editing to make it flow well. That’s when my critical voice was at its loudest.
I have had money issues all my life, but trusted the inner guidance I was receiving. I decided to spend the money to get my book self-published. I purchased the top publishing package with Balboa Press in 2015 so that motivated me to keep moving forward with my book. Ultimately, I am pleased with the decision I made.
I chose Balboa Press because it’s a division of Hay House that was started by Louise Hay. She is my heroine. Louise self-published her first book which became a huge success. Her company and her books have aided many people and continue to do so today.
I recently read Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert which I absolutely loved! I highly recommend this book to anyone – especially to writers. The book is about living a creative life and moving past your fears. I related to everything she wrote about; most importantly, the critical voice she struggled with and the joy that comes from living a creative life by following your true destiny.
I came away with the realization that there will be people who will love my book and others who will not. So I will continue to live my life one day at a time with the knowledge that I am divinely guided and loved by the Creator.
My challenge has been to not let my ego get in the way. It doesn’t matter if my book becomes a great success, although that would please me because my ultimate goal is to help others realize that there is no death. I see my book as my gift to the world by leaving a legacy.
To all the authors out there …
Just do it and get your book published so it will serve the Divine purpose of aiding others in some type of way!
