Having been married twice through my 72 years of life, I have come to realize a few things about marriage.
First, never rush into it. I heard a marriage counselor say that people should wait two years before deciding to tie the knot so that the fog of infatuation and lust will subside. I found it wise to carefully watch how my beloved treats wait staff, children and animals as it shows insight into the heart of an individual. It’s also helpful to watch how people act in times of crisis and stress because when people meet and fall in love, they can be blinded to the other person’s character defects … and, guess what – we all have them!
One of the best decisions I made in my second marriage is to have a weekly date that is set in stone. I regret that I didn’t take that advice in my first marriage, but I was pretty unconscious in those early years.
Kundalini Yoga Studio
My husband and I set aside every Thursday for our date. Since we are retired, we start our date at 9 am at the yoga studio where we teach. At 11 am, we stay for the Sound Healing class that puts me in an absolute orbit!
After we have taken care of ourselves mentally and spiritually, it is time to fuel our bodies with something tasty!
What is very refreshing is that we take turns deciding our Date Day – every other week is my choice. Typically, I choose to go the beach and out for lunch at a beach restaurant. We are so incredibly blessed to live just one mile from the ocean in Huntington Beach, CA.
Last week, I went through a difficult time as one of my cats transitioned to the Rainbow Gate as well as losing a friendship. My husband was there for me and listened as I shared my feelings. He helped me come to a higher perspective about these losses by listening to his wisdom and reasoning things out with him – as it should be in a marriage.
Marriage is a beautiful partnership that requires both people to show up as love. I’m very blessed to have a husband who loves and supports me through my Life’s journey.
I love you, Sweetie!
